Hey, it’s Joakim Cao!
I work as a Study and Career adviser in the far south of Sweden – with particular interest in practical use of digital tool to support individuals career learning and development. I have always had a keen interest in technology integration in Career Guidance and counselling, Education and helping others infuse tech into their lives.
This website is all about things I have learned in the past years. Being a career practitioner and not a researcher, I will share my personal experiences in a hopeful and reflective way – this includes tips, tricks, lessons after failure – and a couple of digital career interventions and materials I have been discovering and creating in recent years. I have given numerous workshops and seminars on ICT integration in Career Guidance and Counselling and helped career practitioners in Sweden to infuse tech into their lives through www.digicao.nu.
That being said, during 2021, I decided to share my experience after a year of pleasure and pain of working remotely during the pandemic. It is part of life’s journey to face challenging times – but we must never lose the light of hope. Leon Brown once said, “sometimes we have to experience the bad so that we can learn to appreciate the good things that enter our life”.
For many of us, we are all navigating this (working remotely) for the first time and we are all doing the best that we can for our clients and students. “Digital was our lifeline in 2020, and we are more positive about it since” (Tim Cooper, WEF). We know that digital skills are vital. They are our lifeline!
Life is full of adventures. I’ve learned so many small things during this pandemic – about myself, about life, about my work, my family, others and my community. I’m sure you have, too. I seek to learn from all I do. I enjoy sharing my discoveries with others and hear about theirs. I hope you will come on this learning adventure with me. It will have divergent paths of all kinds: Career Guidance & Career Development, use of digital technology in the Career Conversation, sharing practice and so on.
Welcome on board! I’m exicted to discuss, share and support Careers Practitioners and students in Career counselling – to feel confident about their technology, digital skills and to think differently in the digital space and thrive.
