How to prepare for the group session

Depending on what you as a group want to focus on – and whether you already have clear goals or are still exploring your options – there are different ways to prepare.

Preparing is not about having all the answers – it is about getting more out of the conversation. Together we find out what suits you and how you can take the next step.

You already have a clear direction or goal

If you already have a track you want to follow – for example specialisation, degree project or industry – use the guidelines below and adapt them to your shared or individual focus area:

IIf you want to focus on choosing a specialisation

  • Write down your thoughts about which specialisations feel interesting and why.
  • Look up 2–3 specialisations in your programme and explore content, profile and future opportunities.
  • Identify links between the specialisations and future jobs, degree projects or industries.
  • Reflect together on what suits your interests, skills and future goals.

IIIf you are considering exchange studies

  • Write down why you are interested in an exchange and what you want to get out of it.
  • Choose 2–3 universities/countries that seem exciting to you.
  • Find out which courses or fields of study are offered there.
  • Reflect on how an exchange can strengthen your academic or personal development.

IIIIf you want to discuss the degree project

  • List ideas about subject areas or problems you want to explore in a degree project.
  • Look up 2–3 potential departments, research groups or companies you are curious about.
  • Look for degree project proposals (current or previous) that inspire you.
  • Reflect on what contribution you want to make and why it feels meaningful or relevant.

IVIf you want to focus on jobs and employers

  • Look up 3 interesting companies or organisations.
  • Find 3 job adverts that show a range – from a first job after graduation to roles reflecting a future dream career.
  • Write briefly why these are interesting, and what you think you could contribute there.

Common to everyone

  • List 3 strengths you have and 2 qualities you want to develop.
  • Attach an updated CV – it does not have to be perfect.
  • Send all material to Joakim by email before the session.

You want to start setting individual goals

Perhaps you are unsure which direction to take and want to use the session to sort out thoughts, questions and possibilities.

This is how you do it:

  1. List your shared or individual thoughts: what do you think about the future? Which choices feel difficult or unclear?
  2. Consider what feels important to you – in studies, work and life in general.
  3. Include a CV each (simple or detailed – both work).
  4. Email your material to Joakim before the meeting.
