Individual session (1:1)
How to prepare for your individual session
Depending on what you want to focus on in the session – and on whether you already have goals or are still exploring your options – there are different ways to prepare.
For you who already have a goal or direction
If you have a clear track you want to follow, use the guidelines below and adapt them to the focus area you have chosen:
IIf you want to focus on choosing a specialisation
- Write down your thoughts about which specialisations appeal to you and why.
- Look up 2–3 specialisations in your programme and explore what they contain.
- Identify links between the specialisations and future jobs, industries or degree projects.
- Reflect on what you think suits your profile, your interests and your future direction.
IIIf you are considering exchange studies
- Write down your thoughts on why you want to go on exchange.
- Choose 2–3 universities/countries you are curious about.
- Look up courses or fields of study you would like to take there.
- Reflect on how an exchange fits into your long-term development.
IIIIf you want to discuss your degree project
- List your thoughts about subject areas you are interested in.
- Choose 2–3 potential departments, research groups or companies where you could imagine doing your degree project.
- Look for current or previous degree project proposals that inspire you.
- Consider what contribution you want to make with your work, and why it feels meaningful.
IVIf you want to focus on jobs and employers
- Find 3 interesting companies or organisations.
- Find 3 job adverts that show a range: from what could be your first job after graduation to roles you want in the longer term.
- Write down why you chose these – and what value you think you could contribute there.
Common to everyone
- List 3 strengths you have and 2 qualities you want to develop.
- Attach an updated CV – it does not have to be perfect.
- Send all material to Joakim by email before the session.

For you who want to start setting goals
You may feel more uncertain and need a conversation to explore what matters to you – and what you want from your studies or your future.
This is how you do it:
- List your thoughts: what do you think about the future and the choices ahead of you, and what feels difficult or appealing?
- Consider what feels important to you – in studies, working life and private life.
- Include a CV (simple or detailed – both work).
- Email the material to Joakim before the meeting.
